What to Do in Paris When It Rains

Sunday, May 17, 2026

Paris hits different when it rains. Instead of letting a stormy weather ruin your plans, use the day as an opportunity to explore the city in a different way.

Here are few of my favorite ways to spend a rainy day in Paris:

Start with a cozy Cafe Morning
The best way to begin? Step into a warm cafe place like Breizh Cafe Abbesses in Paris, order your favorite coffee or like me a rich hot chocolate and take your time while watching the rain pass by. If you are in the mood for something sweet, pair it with a warm crepe topped with fresh berries and ice cream.

Explore covered Passages & Flea Markets
If you want to walk around without getting completely soaked, the historic covered passages like Passage Jouffroy, Passage du Grand Cerf or Passage Choiseul are such a great option.

If you are in the mood for treasure hunting, a covered flea market like Marche Dauphine are also worth exploring for vintage fashion, antique prints, and rare collectibles.

Chase Color Inside Art Galleries & Museums
Trade the gray and gloomy skies outside for vibrant and massive canvases indoors. Paris is packed with incredible and inspirational spots like the Musee d'Orsay, the Louvre Museum or the Carnavalet Museum

Step Inside Paris' Historic Architecure
One of my other favorite things to do when the weather in Paris suddenly changes is stepping inside of churches or historic buildings. The architecture alone is worth it. Dramatic ceilings, stained glass, and that quiet atmosphere makes you forget the rain outside for a while. I recommend Eglise Saint Eustache, Eglise de la Madeleine, and the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Whats your favorite thing to do when it rains?
