Halloween Mummy Apple Turnovers, Halloween Part, Halloween Food
Apple Turnovers are on of my favorite desserts around fall time. I love the smell from the baked apple pieces and the spices. Since Halloween is approaching, I thought would share a recipe for Mummy Apple Turnovers. These are great for Halloween parties or just as a fun treat for yourself.

The Ingredients (for 4 mummies):

Puff Pastry

- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Topping
• 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
• 1/2 cup powdered sugar
• 1/4 caramel flavored topping
• 8 edible candy eyeballs (2 for each mummy)
• 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar

3. Cut 1 inch sections from the center out (about 1/2 inch wide). With a brush, remove any flour residue on the pastry pieces.

5. Now scoop about 2 tablespoon of the apple mixture into the center of each puff pastry. Before braiding the mummy, brush some water on the puff pastry (peach colored markings) to help seal or connect the sections.

6. Braid the mummy by stretching the pastry strips from side to side over the apple mixture.
Leave a tiny gap on the top of the braided mummy for the eyes and mouth area. Seal bottom and top of the mummy by firmly pressing the pastry dough with your fingers. Remove any flour residue again. Transfer the mummies to a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 16-18 minutes until puffy and golden brown.

8. Remove from the oven and let it cool down on a cooling rack.

9. While the mummies cooling down for a little, make the glaze by melting the butter in a small sauce pan over low-medium heat. When butter is completely melted, add powdered sugar and caramel flavored topping. Whisk until well blended and thickened.

Enjoy :)
